Lekisha R. Gunn is a first-year doctoral student in the PhD program in sociology at Northwestern University focusing on labor and migration with an emphasis on domestic labor and care work. She entered academia after a career in government at the U.S. Department of State from 2013 to 2018 as a Foreign Service Officer. She most recently worked at the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, Austria where she served as a U.S. representative at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime until May 2018. Her interest in international affairs began as an exchange student at the University of Mannheim in Mannheim, Germany over ten years ago and is passionate about study abroad programs as a way to foster cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Additionally, she holds a Master in Public Policy from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with honors from the University of Alabama.
